Earlier this month the PBR (Professional Bull Riders) held their world finals in Las Vegas. It is a two week bull riding extravaganza with seven  competitions spread over two weekends. Vegas turns into cowboy city and the Mandalay Bay Casino and Hotel hosts the first weekend of competition and two weeks of vendors areas (interestingly enough in the same place they put the Photoshop World vendors).

We were lucky to be there for the last weekend of competition for the Toughest Sport On Dirt.  The last weekend is held in the Thomas and Mack center at UNLV. Besides the bull riding there is a vendors area that has everything from Ford Trucks (one of the sponsors of PBR – Build Ford Tough series) to livestock trailers to furniture and jewelry. On Saturday morning there was a “Meet and Greet” autograph session for 2 hours with all of the bull riders. These guys were great talking with their fans, signing autographs and posing for photos – all for free. You certainly don’t see that in any other pro-sports!

Thank you PBR for a wonderful experience, we are looking forward to next years bull riding and will be at a few more events than just the finals.

A bit of a hike to get here, but definitely worth it. While hiking back after sunset bats crossed our path many times, good thing that I don’t mind  them or it could have been a bit uncomfortable.

An here it is – the photo that inspired the website. Watching the sunset over the Pacific at Brennecke’s the D200 takes a break from work (which would be photographing dogs in sports).

I’ve finally got this blog rolling. Time to share a taste of Hawaii.

The idea for this blog all started when we took a photo of my camera on the table at Brennecke’s in Kauaii. Cathy’s Camera on Vacation – and from there who knows what this will evolve into!
